Can I digitally upload a file to you for printing?
Yes! Click here to upload a file to us.
What type of files do you prefer to work with?
You can save your document as a “ .PDF” file. PDF files must be high-quality resolution, set to “Press Quality” and include bleed if applicable. You may also send the file in the following types: psd, tiff, eps, ai,etc. We prefer that you send .PDF and .EPS files with outlined fonts. These files are easier to handle and do not require you to include the actual font. Color and grayscale images must be at least 300 dpi. Saving a low resolution, pixeled image to 300 dpi will not improve the original quality of the graphic.
You can also send files using one of the following: Adobe Creative Suite Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator. Just remember to include all fonts and links using the “Package” or “Collect for Output” features of your individual program. Using native files such as InDesign allows us to make last-minute corrections or trouble shoot problems with less delays provided you include all fonts and links(graphics). Please include a pdf file with your native files so that we will know exactly what the finished document should look like and allows us to trouble shoot potential problems..
What is bleed?
“Bleed” refers to the extra image area that extends beyond the trimmed sheet, usually 1/8th inch (0.125inches, 0p9 picas) on documents that have images that end close to or exactly on the edge of the document. For example, an 8.5” x 11” document with bleed on all sides will have a total image area of 8.75” x 11.25”. This extra image area allows for any slight movements in position or cutting..
What color mode should my files be in?
Files should be built in CMYK color or they can be “Spot Colors”. Largent Printing will not accept “RGB” files; they will create unintended color results. CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black; RGB is only Red, Green and Blue colors.
Spot colors are inks used instead of the standard CMYK. Often spot colors maintain greater color consistency between a number of different projects using the same logo or color and can save ink costs. We recommend using the Pantone® Matching System library.
What is rich black?
Rich black is an ink mixture of solid black, 100% K, with additional CMY ink values. This results in a darker tone than black ink alone. If you print black alone as 100% K, the resulting black may not be as dark as you might like. We recommend using C/60, M/40, Y/40, K/100.
How can I make sure my blues do not come out purple?
Always be sure to leave a 30% difference between the Cyan and Magenta Values. Use a low amount of magenta whenever using high amounts of cyan to avoid purple – an example might be C/100, M/70, Y/0, K/0.
